Hello December

I don’t know about you, but it seems like the pages of the calendar have flipped over fast, just like the shuffling of cards.

I can’t get my head wrapped around the reality that there are only 30 days left in the year.

This December I want to try something a little different. I want to set some goals. So I thought I’d share those with you so that I’m really on the hook. Time is short so here we go!

This December my goals are…

1. Study Advent
As a kid, we got to flip open the windows of the calendar every day to read a message in the days leading up to Christmas. Was that it? Maybe there was a piece of chocolate involved!

I know Advent focuses on expectation in anticipation of Christ’s birth leading up to Christmas. But what does that mean in my relationship with God? What are the implications on my life, my heart? It’s so much more.

I want to know the rest of the story. I want to know his promises for me.

2. Soak it in
Whatever I’m doing, wherever I am I want to be present. I want to take it all in.

Whether it’s a chiropractic appointment, watching A Charlie Brown Christmas, being at a party, or eating some scrumptious holiday food….I’m soakin in it.

I want to be fully present when I devour those calories. Mostly I want to be there when I’m eye to eye with other people.

3. Make my YES worth it
Party invitations, shopping, tree lightings, decorating, cookie baking, gift giving.

My YES is a NO to something or someone else.

I want to make good choices this month. I don’t have to do everything.

This means trading in the ‘I might miss something’, the ‘I should go to this party because I need to’, and the ‘I need to get them a gift because of fill in the blank’.

I want to have the courage to let go of implied expectations and not get on the merry go round of Christmas only to find myself holding on for dear life.

My blog goals…

1. Get a New Look
I’ve been dreaming…not of sugar plums but rather, a face lift of this blog for months.
You know, move in to 20-15. I’ve been researching and looking at templates until they all look the same. I haven’t the faintest idea how to do this so I might need to find expert help.

2. Facebook Page
I need one for Sweet Life (the blog), to get some readers!

3. Tweak my content to inspire a comment here

Happy December!

Do you make goals regularly? What’s one thing you might want to focus on this season that will allow you to take it all in and enjoy?
