Today. Tomorrow. Gratitude & Goals.

If I had one word to sum up the summer so far, it’d have to be adventure. June was full of unexpected happenings under the guise of a bucket list. I was able to check off a few things on the list with some great memories to show for it too.

June was also marked by an incredible gift from God. After losing the love of my life, my sweet twelve year old beagle, I experienced a profound sense of grief.

Each moment as I mourned out to God he so graciously replaced my deep sense of loss and pain with peace and joy, releasing me from the unbearable weight of heartbreak.

I am so amazed at how God has worked in my life this way. As faithful as I was to release my pain to him, He was ever more faithful to replace it with contentment.

The promise of July holds great learning opportunities but also another chance to be faithful in a couple of areas, namely spending time with God every day and intentionally taking time to stop (which I’m really no good at) to hear from God.

Today I’m grateful for these happenings in June

A new experience:

On a business trip to Washington state I somehow received a TSA pre-check. Let me tell you that was so nice and I made my flight because of it. If you travel regularly this is the only way to go!

Unexpected adventures:

A couple of friends and I took a zip line tour over Lake Travis! I’m a little skittish of heights and the tallest zip was 2800ft over Lake Travis. What a blast!

What I started:

A new book and study called Looking for Lovely by Annie Downs

Big surprise:

Getting to go to the Austin City Limits taping of Andra Day. She was phenomenal! If you haven’t heard her music check her out here.

Unexpected gift:

I never win anything, but this month I did! A ticket to the virtual conference for bloggers called Blogger Blowout thanks to Marianna of the Collective Mill. I learned so much and from the comfort of my pjs.

A beautiful sight:

On a business trip to Washington state, we took an hour to go site seeing in the small town of Bellingham. The Pacific Northwest coastline is breathtakingly beautiful.

Tomorrow I’m hopeful for this in July

What I want to do everyday on purpose:

Pray

I want to stay faithful in:

Spending time with God everyday

I want to be intentional in:

Stopping to be still and take time to listen to God

Where I want to be fully present:

At the ATX Blogger Mixer and the Declare Conference later this month I want to be prepared, in the moment, and make the most of my time there.

What are you most thankful for from the month of June?

How about goals for July? Tell me what you’re hoping for this month.

  1. I didn’t realize zip lines were that high! That would scare me. I recently got back into being more deliberate with my prayers but have fallen off the wagon in the last few weeks. I need to recommit to praying more consistently. For me this summer has been about playing golf. I’m having a really fun time with it.

    • It was a little scary at first for sure! Golfing sounds like a great thing to be doing this summer. Have a wonderful time! Thank you for stopping by. Tracy

  2. It was such a blessing to get to go ziplining with you and watch you take that leap of faith! God has some amazing things for you this year and I’m looking forward to seeing what those will be!
