Today. Tomorrow. Gratitude & Goals.

It can be daunting, steep, long, and terrifying. It’s my list of goals. Do you ever feel that way about your goals?

One of the best things about blogging is that I get to share my goals with the entire world. More than that, sharing them with you has held me accountable.

So thank you.

Here’s what I’m up to today, this month and what I’m setting out to accomplish and do next month.

I’d love to hear a few of your goals for the month.

TODAY, February 2016

What I’m most proud of today?
It’s a tie.

Raising $2,000 for a fundraiser fighting human sex trafficking in Austin, but event more so, seeing the generosity of community businesses through their donation to the silent auction.

So many of those contributors were unaware of the problem.

And saying no to something so I could say yes to my puppy and my best friend.

What I’m thankful for:
Connecting and reconnecting with friends.

This month I was able to meet a friend who lives in my neighborhood yet it had been a whole 16 months since we’d seen each other.

In a trip to Seattle I was so happy that on a whim a girlfriend and I had dinner. I’ve known her for almost 18 years and she recently relocated to Washington. What a sweet time we had.

At month’s end I’ll get to catch up with another friend and have lunch with her somewhere on a patio!

Making the effort to stay connected to friends this month was one of my biggest goals. I don’t know about you but I find myself saying, yes let’s have lunch and I never follow up on it. Time is short.

What I’m struggling with:

What I’m focused on:
This month I took cash into the bank to pay on a debt that is sold old I don’t even remember what I bought. That hurt.

Making smart choices to get out of debt this year. It’s really, really tough when everything in me wants to put the money towards something that brings me pleasure today. Delayed gratification. We don’t get along too well.

More on that later.

Best thing out of my kitchen:
Texas Chocolate Sheet Cake. I took a fork to it! After I shared it at work of course. I’m pretty sure I gained 5lbs.

What I’m glad I did:
Read In the Wait, a Bible study by Holly Holt. God revealed to me that I was waiting for something that I had no idea I was. Receiving this eventually will be an incredible gift.

TOMORROW March 2016

As my fingers hover over the keyboard and my eyes float to the top of the ceiling I’m stumped.

What will my March look like? What do I hope for? What do I want to accomplish, where is my heart?

What I hope for at home:
Stay there more. Be with my baby puppy, rest. Clean my office.

What I’m eating:
Less. It seems like February was a month of comforting my heart and finding contentment in carbs.

What I want for my blog:
Write something that touches you.
How oh how do I get the algorithms on Facebook to love me?
Facebook likes + engagement
Set up Mail Chimp
Twitter handle that matches my name
Take some on line classes
Stumble Upon

What I’m planning for:
A Spring brunch with friends

What I’m adjusting:
My workouts. I need more cardio now that I’m teaching fewer fitness classes each week.

What I’m looking forward to:
Meeting a couple of fellow bloggers in person, who I admire a great deal.

What I’m afraid of:
Slipping back on my DRP (debt reduction plan)

  1. Love this idea for a post! What a great way to start a month off right! xx

    • Thank you for stopping by Morgan! I love your blog, especially the Goey Funfetti post-yum! Hope your March is going great!

  2. This is such a great way to be happy and gratuitous. 🙂 Love it!

  3. You’re in Austin too? I love finding out that blogger that I read are in my same city! And way to go on paying off debt. It’s really a type of financial slavery that we don’t talk about enough. Contentment is a fine line and I love you’re focusing on it in positive ways!

    • Katy thank you so much for checking out my blog! You’re completely right about debt being ‘financial slavery’! Never thought of it that way but it’s so true. We should get together for coffee since we’re both in Austin! Email me at I’m a fan of your modest fashion options for women. Love the dresses!

  4. I love this! It is so important to be intentionally grateful everyday!

  5. What a great accomplishment on that fundraiser! Keep up the great work!

  6. Sounds like you had a super great month! Meeting up with old friends is so great to do! Are you near Seattle? I live in the Seattle area. Good luck on your March goals! You’ve got this!

  7. SOunds like you have some great goals for March! I look forwrd to hearing how you do!

  8. Omg congrats on raising that much loot!!! Such a great cause you were helping!

  9. Congrats on the fundraising…that is quite an accomplishment!

  10. This is great! I should do this. I’ve been keeping a list of my accomplishments – but not really setting specific goals. Thanks for inspiring me!

    • Liv thank you for taking time to stop by. I love your blog! Wow, your posts are really powerful. I like your writing prompts. Where do they come from? I’m always in need of inspiration!

  11. I love the way that you have your goals written out! So different from what I’ve seen! I also really want to reduce my debt. It’s currently a work in progress but at least I am trying. How amazing to be able to raise that amount of money for Human Sex Trafficking! It’s always nice to be able to reconnect with friends. Sometimes life gets a little crazy and busy that you don’t get to always stay in touch like you would. Stumble Upon is so easy to use, if you haven’t used it yet. Good luck with your goals this month!

    • Thank you for your encouragement Mistie, and for stopping by! I’m determined to get to Stumble Upon for sure. Do you use it? What other good tools do you recommend?

  12. Really enjoyed it, I Will keep on reading your great articles:) …
